  • Registration of patents filed in one country are not effective protection to other countries because The Law of One country can not apply to the other countries according to the sovereignty.

  • Thus, the applicant can protect the inventions in many countries as follows.

  • (1) To file a patent in every countries that their want the inventions to be protected.

  • (2) To file a patent application in a country that is a member of the Paris Convention. (Member countries of the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property) and then apply for a patent in each country within 12 months from the date of the filing of a patent application, The applicant has benefited from the date of the first application in all those countries.

  • (3) To file under PCT (Patent Cooperation Treaty) can be submitted to the patent office within their country and the Patent Office will forward the request to perform the steps of the PCT on Intellectual Property Organization's (WIPO). However, the PCT patent application is the sovereignty of each country which will have to check the procedures and conditions of the law within that country before the patent application will be granted.

    Thailand joined the Patent Cooperation Treaty on September 24, 2009 is member number 142 , In Asia countries that are members and non-members as follows.
